While technically two separate parks, Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks share a border and have a combined entry fee, meaning if you get into one you get into both. As such, they are commonly grouped together and offer a number of similar activities and attractions. Most of the easy access is located along the western side of the parks, where Generals Highway winds through the forest and various trailheads and campgrounds offer sites for deeper exploration of the park. Camping outside of the designated campgrounds requires a special permit and offers the only way to get deeper into the wilderness than can be reached during a single day's hike. Some of the most unique and famous of the attractions at the two parks include Crystal Cave, the Tunnel Log and Moro Rock. It's an 80-mile drive to the parks from Fresno, but they are hugely popular year round so make camping reservations well in advance.
Open daily year round.
Entry fee (7 day pass): Vehicle $20; Individual $10.
